About the role

We are looking for a Supplier Approval and Specification Leader to join our Technical team. Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will be required to write and maintain specifications for products supplied and produced by and on behalf of Wellocks. This role requires the management of supplier approval and will assist with the supply chain mapping project and assist with the WJFG Sustainability Projects.

What you will do:

Supplier Approval

  • Manage the supplier approval process.
  • Ensure all key product information is communicated within the team to enable the relevant databases to be maintained (Site AMP, HACCP, Supply Chain Mapping.
  • Maintenance of Sedex partnering.
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers, buying, marketing, operations and quality team.

Specification Approval and Creating

  • Complete product specifications with suppliers.
  • Process, check and approve specifications and Input data into internal database.
  • Generate finished product specifications and Ingredient declarations.
  • Ensure all necessary and accurate legislative information is incorporated into the specifications, ensure compliance for own label and branded products.
  • Ensure all product specifications and artwork comply with legal requirements including food safety and quality
  • Answering enquiries internally and externally relating to the products managed including allergen, ingredient and nutritional information.

New Product Development

  • Ensure all necessary information is presented in a pack copy format to enable the generation of a product label which meets with all relevant legislation on own label products
  • Be actively involved in the NPD process, utilising your technical expertise and specification knowledge to assist NPD projects to run smoothly.
  • Work with marketing team and produce/chilled product specification technologist to ensure accurate product data management on COS (chef ordering system)

What you will need:

  • Experience of working within the Food Industry and Specification management
  • Sound Knowledge of HACCP and NPD Processes
  • Experience of working with Supply Chains and approval of suppliers
  • Internal Audit Qualification preferred
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • IT Competent in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects whilst delivering results against tight deadlines
