We have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Shift Supervisor to join our Transport Team here at Wellocks based in Nelson.

About the role

The Transport Shift Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Nelson Transport Management Team, to supervise the team of drivers’, fleet of vehicles, and required routes in accordance with the company KPI’s and legal compliance. Predominantly working any five nights out of six, there will be a requirement to be flexible and work day shifts to cover holidays when required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all routes are dispatched on time and in full, and where necessary arrange cover for trunk or route overloads and absence
  • Make sure all HSE and transport compliance requirements are enforced
  • Ensure the necessary paperwork and checks, either personally or through the drivers, are completed to maintain due diligence 
  • Oversee that all office duties are carried out within the shift, on both days and nights.
  • Deliver against the department KPI’s to ensure customer requirements are met
  • Liaise cross functionally to support drivers with customer and supplier requirements and queries  
  • Supervise the team of drivers effectively
  • Provide holiday / sickness cover for day and night shift managers as needed

Required skills and experience

  • Good communication skills
  • Clean Driving License. HGV 2 desirable but not essential as training will be provided
  • Microsoft Office Proficient (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Sound geographical knowledge
  • Ability to work flexibly between nights and days
  • Previous experience working in Transport would be beneficial
  • Previous experience of supervising a team
