Senior Development Baker, Jacksons

A fantastic opportunity for a knowledgeable, driven and highly creative baker.  This brand-new role, working with the Bakery Development Manager, is integral to the both the delivery of our Innovation & NPD strategy and continually taking the business forward in terms of bakery expertise and reputation.

Within this role you will build and strengthen working relationships, first and foremost with our customers, but also with suppliers and other internal departments.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Work closely with the NPD Manager in the delivery of briefs and the execution of account plans
  • Work closely with the Bakery Development Manager on the development and delivery of pro-active NPD pipeline and Innovation projects
  • With a strong understanding of our factories’, push the boundaries of capabilities to continually develop our business.
  • Undertake market reviews, ideation sessions and customer presentations
  • Continually seek to develop your own bakery knowledge, and develop those reporting into you
  • Manage the day to day running of our Test Bakery
  • Periodically run bakery sessions to train and inspire our colleagues and customers

About You

You will be passionate about food and bread and thrive in a fast moving, forward thinking and ambitious environment.

Ideally, you will have experience in product and process development having worked in a food manufacturing or bakery environment.

Jacksons is part of William Jackson Food Group, a sixth generation family business founded by William Jackson when he opened his first shop in Hull in September 1851. Today we have a portfolio of five food businesses in distinct, yet complimentary market areas, employing over 2,000 people. We also have a pub!

We have occupied the current site in Hull since 1907 and we now have 3 bread plants in our main bakery. We recently developed a second bakery, also at our site in Hull, which specialises in premium quality roll, wrap and ciabatta production.

We specialise in the supply of bread and other carriers to the sandwich manufacturers, foodservice and export channels, and in 2012 we launched our consumer facing brand “Jackson’s Yorkshire’s Champion”.

We’re building a new site in Corby, one of the largest investments our Group has ever made, and this will allow us to realise our ambition of being the best at what we do.
