Job title: Technical Process Apprentice About Jacksons Jacksons is part of William Jackson Food Group, a sixth-generation family business founded by William Jackson when he opened his first shop in Hull in September 1851. Today we have a portfolio of five food businesses in distinct, yet complimentary market areas, employing over 2,000 people. We have occupied the current site in Hull since 1907 and we now have 3 bread plants in our main bakery. We recently developed a second bakery, also at our site in Hull, which specialises in premium quality roll production. We specialise in the supply of bread and other carriers to the sandwich manufacturers, foodservice and export channels, and in 2012 we launched our consumer facing brand “Jackson’s of Yorkshire”. We opened a brand-new site in Corby, Northamptonshire – one of the largest investments our Group has ever made – and this will allow us to realise our ambition of being the best at what we do. 2025 is an exciting time to join us – make this year a toast to you and apply now! What’s involved? You will be responsible for the technical innovation and process workstreams as directed by the Technical Process Manager. This will include product trials at all sites, new raw material trials, data collection and reporting, optimization analysis, customer and supplier interactions. The role will have a low level of customer and supplier contact; and regular travel to customer sites, suppliers and Jacksons sites will be required. Working closely with the Technical, NPD, Operations and supply chain teams you will ensure effective completion of trials and implementation of changes. The start date for the apprenticeship will be January 2026. Further details regarding the programme structure, and key dates will be provided during the application process. Proof of age may be required during the recruitment process. Key Areas of Responsibility: The role has a high degree of flexibility required. Working patterns can be determined in a plan but also there is a need to respond at short notice; the role will require a high level of flexibility to work at a location or a time. Work may be at any time during day or night at any site. Overnight stays away from home will be required. Work will be at all 3 manufacturing sites. The role is factory floor based primarily but there will also be some admin work and some travel to customer and suppliers. A high level of commitment and perseverance is required and an ability to manage own time very efficiently. Customer Facing · Attend customer panels and feedback all information – maintain the records from customer panels · Relate all findings/customer interaction back to the Technical Innovations Manager and process manager Process Control/Innovation · Conduct plant trials as required · Continuously improve bread making process by making use of collate data and observation · Review quality indicators in order to maintain consistent quality of bread – liaise with other members of the Technical and Operational teams · Support of R2L process New Product/Existing Product Development · Assist the NPD team with factory trials/launches as required · Support the process team on trials and approvals for alternative suppliers/ingredients General · Work within the departmental annual budget · Any other duties relevant to the role

Qualifications and Experience: •You will have an interest of food manufacturing.
Job commitments Hull – Derringham Street – 37.5 hours per week You willl also be required to travel to other Jacksons sites.
