Customer Service Assistant, Hull

In this integral role you will be responsible for processing sales orders, handling customer order queries and liaising with the necessary departments to ensure all orders are accurately organised and delivered to the agreed customer timescales.

If you have strong administration skills and you’re eager to gain experience within a growing business, this is an ideal opportunity.

This is a full-time permanent role (37.5 hours per week) which may involve some weekend work on a rota basis.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Taking ownership of all customer orders, inputting these and both logically and creatively resolving any queries or issues that may arise.
  • Delivering excellent customer service at all times and building positive working relationships with customers to ensure open and honest communication is maintained.
  • Looking into Customer Service improvements for the business and working on projects that will put us above and beyond in terms of Customer Service.
  • Building a close relationship with our Sales team and understanding key business movements that our department can support with.
  • Coordinate with the rest of the team to ensure teamwork between the Transport department, Planning department and our cold store is smooth, working with customer service at the forefront of our mind at all times.
  • Maintain all customer files, both within Sage and the hard copy filing system.
  • Ensure all relevant operations and resources operate within legislative requirements and codes of practice including; Health & Safety, Employment, Trading Standards, Food Safety and Trading Descriptions.
  • General office administration duties as required.

About You

You will need to uphold the values and cultural aspirations of the business and be customer-focussed with exceptional communication and team-working skills. You will have a high attention to detail and be a keen problem-solver, working proactively at all times. Experience in a Customer Service team would be highly advantageous. You will need to have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience of using SAGE or an ERP system would also be a distinct advantage, though this is not essential.

Jacksons is part of William Jackson Food Group, a sixth generation family business founded by William Jackson when he opened his first shop in Hull in September 1851. Today we have a portfolio of five food businesses in distinct, yet complimentary market areas, employing over 2,000 people. We also have a pub!

We have occupied the current site in Hull since 1907 and we now have 3 bread plants in our main bakery. We recently developed a second bakery, also at our site in Hull, which specialises in premium quality roll, wrap and ciabatta production.

We specialise in the supply of bread and other carriers to the sandwich manufacturers, foodservice and export channels, and in 2012 we launched our consumer facing brand “Jackson’s Yorkshire’s Champion”.

We’ve recently built a brand-new site in Corby, Northamptonshire – one of the largest investments our Group has ever made – and this will allow us to realise our ambition of being the best at what we do.
